Watch this car go from one side of the law...to the other.
An unexpected journey for this Z06
We were approached by a full uniformed "law dawg" several months back about a project that had to begin "quietly". This was a project we had to keep "under wraps". The information was limited and my interest was peaked. The only real question put to me was....."Can you wrap a Corvette?"
Regardless of the unanswered questions, we were eager to get started.
This thing is a turbo charged, nitro blasting orange rocket, with carbon fiber and all. Hot cam, Willwood brakes, roll cage, drag strip ready, and street legal?
With possession of the vehicle we began the tedious preparation.
Once the design was approved and material selected, it was time to get wrapping. There was no room for shortcuts here. And, we surely did not want to upset this customer. We started with 3M's 1080 series wrapping cast for the black sections. For the white we decided to use IJ180Cv3 with associated laminate.
Proper heat and and precise trimming played a huge role in this transformation.
This project would include 3 different materials and each one has it's own tolerance level for heat and conformability. In order to make sure we offered the best level of protection, we provided the industry's most comprehensive warranty. The 3M MCS Warranty. As a Certified Installation Company we knew the 3M Wrapping cast would allow for the contours of this vehicle to be wrapped with no discoloration, lifting or adhesive breaks.
As the project neared it's end we knew our customer would be just as excited about the big reveal as we were.
But Something tells me that the previous owner might not be so excited.
This is like when you were a kid and you found that special edition Hot Wheels, way at the back of the store shelf. And when you got it home
...you didn't want anyone to play with it!
Even though we hated to let this one go, I can't wait to see it on the road.
Thank you to the fine men and women of the New Braunfels Police Dept.
We are proud to be a part of the community and this project.
